Survivors include her son, Eugene Parker, her six grand children, Todd Parker (Robin), Jason Parker, Rick Huard (Maranda), Crystal Strehl (Rich), Michael Bojorquez (ChrisAnn), Rachel Bojorquez, seven great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Interment was held on January 23, 2019 at Temecula Cemetery.

Dorothy Frances Freeman was born on May 4, 1922 in Temecula, California on the Vail Ranch to James Oliver and Estefana Freeman. After her father retired from his position as foreman, the family moved to Temecula where Dort grew up. Showing horses and barrel racing was a hobby that Dort enjoyed for much of her childhood and young adult years. She graduated from Elsinore High School and shortly afterward, met and married James Rollin Parker. Rollin had a trucking business and hauled produce from Imperial Valley to the Los Angeles area. Dort would join him, riding together on the long hauls and helping with deliveries until their first child, Eugene Parker was born. In the following decade, Dort and Rollin had two daughters, Sandra Parker (Murphy) and Debra “Dee Dee” Parker (Bojorquez).

Dort and Rollin’s marriage ended in divorce and Dort found work at Kodak where she worked as a manager for several years. She loved her position there and greatly enjoyed the film processing aspect of photography. After Dort retired from Kodak, she returned home to the Pechanga Indian Reservation, where she served her Tribe in many capacities and single-handedly built her home. She married Lloyd Arviso on June 4, 1977 and together they lived on her property until he passed away on March 23, 2001.

Dort’s main joy was time spent with her friends and her family. She always looked forward to celebrating anything and everything. Her smile was contagious and her hugs and kisses were free-flowing and numerous! She will be remembered for her sense of adventure and quest to grab all things joyful in life.
